New CPAG Seminar: Two Child Limit – Implementation, Challenges and the Policy Context
CPAG are running another of their excellent seminars on Thursday 22 June 2017.
Two Child Limit – Implementation, Challenges and the Policy Context -
April 2017 saw the introduction of the most direct attack on children under the welfare reform banner yet. This seminar will examine the two child limit in tax credits and means-tested benefits and its inevitable impact on child poverty.
The seminar will cover:
- the policy implications of the two child limit, including lessons from America’s experience of family caps and CPAG’s research into the effects of the new provisions on child poverty
- detail of how the two child limit is being implemented for universal credit, child tax credit, income support and income-based jobseeker’s allowance (where child amounts are still payable) and housing benefit
- the exceptions to the limit
- the transitional arrangements and the tactical issues relating to those arrangements
- the implications of the two-child limit in the context of human rights, the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, and potential legal challengesFull training materials and lunch are provided.
