No more jobcentre appointments for three months from Thursday 19 March

As this only refers to those ‘receiving benefits’ can we assume that appointments will still be required for new claims (including proof of ID, right to reside, provision of evidence etc)?
Will DWP be providing further information to clarify the position for new claims?

I can’t find the press release/any further detail - if anyone does could they post it here? would be much appreciated
This from our local JCP - yours may differ
“Verification/Habitual resident test (HRT) /commitment/work coach appointments are all being done over the phone.
They have implemented a “trust and protect” policy meaning that they are not asking for documented evidence for claim and instead taking client word as truth. Evidence may be request further down line.
HRT are being FastTrack to decision makers. If more info is required claimant will be getting called.
Additionally, Personal security number prompts are being switched off to support those self-isolating.
Team leader informs that there will be significant increase in claims with those self-isolating and/or losing employment, so job centre staff are focusing “new claims” rather work coach activity.
Jobcentre are doing all they can to prevent people visiting the building, however some claimants are still showing up as they have been uncontactable.
Overall, it is imperative that claimants review their journal and have a working phone and are able to answer when/if DWP call. “
Wonder how they are dealing with new style ESA which only has a paper claim and appointment process - no online or telephone option.

Bit on that in this thread - https://www.rightsnet.org.uk/forums/viewthread/15722/
My local Job Centre has confirmed an ID interview /Commitments interview for new style JSA is going ahead this morning. They have stated they received the same amount of claims in 1 day yesterday as they would normally get in 14 days!

Thanks Daphne - spotted that thread after I posted!

Our local JCP advised me Friday that this was only for people who were self-isolating due to C19, not everyone; although this may have changed by tomorrow!
