Mesne profit/use and occupation and UC
Any housing providers able to share any more up to date experience on the issues raised in this discussion: https://www.rightsnet.org.uk/forums/viewthread/7945/
Basically are housing providers being able to get UC to pay housing costs for people living in the property following the death of the tenant whilst the landlord decides on whether they can succeed to the property? Are they giving the resident a written agreement? What terminology are they using?
This was supplied for my client to evidence “rent”, and was accepted by UC:
Dear XXXXXXX
Claiming Universal Credit: eligible housing costs
I understand you are now claiming Universal Credit. This letter outlines the charges for the property; xxxxxxxxx
We accept payments to the account of (deceased family member) for the use and occupation of the property.
The table below shows the charges for housing costs within Universal Credit.

Was this a private or social landlord? If social landlord, did it take MR/appeal to get it resolved?
Hi, social landlord and no MR or appeal to get this accepted. I was prepared for that battle but it didn’t happen.
