End of IS
Client on IS and youngest child just reached 5. Client was told she needed to claim UC which she has. She is £577 per month worse off on UC. She is also a carer for her son and gets CA. She was not advised she had grounds to claim IS as a carer. Is there any challenge to this? IS must have known she was a carer and so could have continued on IS meaning when she is MM she would receive her TP
You are right that IS might have continued on the basis of her being a carer, but as she has now claimed UC, that would bring any legacy entitlement to an end regardless.
She might have a complaint against whoever has ‘told’ her to claim UC but you would need to be a bit more specific about what exactly happened.
How is she £577 pcm worse off out of curiosity?
Hi, sorry did the maths wrong earlier, she is £487 worse off. She told us she was getting CTC/IS of £1501 and UC will be £1014. Partly due to Disabled child element being less on UC
Please ignore figures, client gave us incorrect information on her actual CTC, she is worse off but not by such a large amount
