Lord Freud deconstructed
Lord Freud:
‘Universal credit is a modern*, fit-for-purpose** benefit that rewards people for taking up work***
and we are now accepting claims for the new benefit across the whole of the pathfinder area****.
We will continue to monitor and learn***** from the introduction of universal credit as part of our plan to deliver the benefit in a safe and controlled manner******.’
*modern? in what way? a meaningless statement
** cliche and an abuse of the English language, and, all evidence suggests, an abuse of the facts
***factually dubious
**** misleadingly grandiose, unless you know how small the ‘area’ is and that they are taking very basic claims only
***** something else is going to go wrong
****** new rhetoric to cover the fact that the timetable has slipped. Again.
according to IBS UC started early so he has nothing to apologise about!

Just read it, what a beauty! I would say he’s a loss to the world of fiction but apparently his novel’s a stinker….

*modern - we will force everyone to use computers and so far, no-ones mentioned bringing back the workhouses
**fit-for-purpose - of stigmatising and humiliating the sick, lone parents, those in poorly paid work and anyone else we decide we don’t like, and making their lives an utter misery, because we can, so there.
***** monitor and learn - la la la we’re not listening
******in a safe and controlled manner - one that is least likely to harm our re-election prosepcts.
So to paraphrase…
“Most of the electorate have swallowed our divisive workhouse rhetoric so we can tell them whatever BS we like. It’s hardly as if Milliband is going to contradict us. Cheers Paul & Rupert, we owe you one!”
