Pathfinders and post office card accounts
I’d thought the original message was UC could not be paid into POCAs, and that they are being phased out anyway. But in the ‘restrictions list’ of who can qualify for UC under the pathfinders one of the conditions is now that they must have a building society account or bank account OR POST OFFICE CARD ACCOUNT. Anyone heard anything else about this or can shed any light? (Also in an article on 13th May in Telegraph online about the new PO current accounts, a ‘senior spokeswoamn’ is quoted as saying ‘there are no plans to scrap the post office card account’. ?????
Heres a link to the eligibility criteria for the first Pathfinder claims in Ashton-under-Lyne:

Post Office card accounts are included. I don’t know if UC is yet being paid to anyone with a PO card account because very few claims have come through the Council Offices so far.
Thanks Ruth- yes that was the list I’d been looking at.
So do you think POCAs are here to stay after all?
Answering my own query!
Here is the very clear and useful response I got through a freedom of information request.
