Childcare tax credit and couples where one is a carer Mon 17-Jul-06 12:52 PM
At present couples with one in work and the other a full-time carer (eg getting Carer's Allowance) cannot get any help with childcare costs through working tax credit. We have raised this as an issue nationally with the HMRC and suggested the legislation be amended to bring these couples into entitlement. It would be really helpful if people could email me any actual examples of couples where they are in this situation and either a) actually paying for childcare which they are not able to get any help with through wtc or b) would like to use childcare but are unable to because they can't afford it (but would do so if they could get wtc towards the costs). If your examples are prepared to give their details that would be great but if not please send through anonymous ones with enough details to explain their situation. Many thanks.
