EMP reports Wed 09-Jun-10 03:08 PM
Had occasion to sit in on an EMP visit today. Doctor was very nice and knowledgable about the criteria for DLA. We got talking and I found myself quickly digging a large hole for myself as I tried to explain why I was so pleasantly surprised. I cited several cases where EMP reports had stated that clients with serious health issues could walk 200M, and the clients could not remember anything like that being said during the examination. She told me that the advice booklet they were trained to rely on says that anyone who can move about in their own home can walk 200M. Same booklet says that back pain does not affect mobility. She also told me that some of her reports supporting mobility/care needs have been sent back to her (by doctors) asking if she was sure. Don't know about you, but our panels treat EMP reports as expert evidence and sometimes prefer them over evidence of their own eyes on mobility!

Yes I think you are correct, a copy of this booklet would be useful. Anyone got a copy. Has anyone out there tried to get a copy under the freedom of information act. Just done a quick Google, couldn't find a copy on there either.
