overpayments and amnesty
Thu 23-Feb-06 01:33 PM

I have a client who has been overpaid £2K due to an error on the part of the IR. I understand that there is no right of appeal but has anyone heard of the IR writing off a debt due to their error?

Please search this forum for all threads relating to overpayments and get your hands on a copy of HMRC Code of Practice 26. Your client will need to complete a form TC846 to dispute recovery of the overpayment.

A pdf copy of COP 26 to save you searching.
