We have agreed to go next Thursday the 28th and speak to employees at the local Remploy factory which is due to close in early March. Every employee has a disability and has been in regular (in some cases limited) employment up to this point and all have taken voluntary redundancy. Their TU rep has asked us to go in to give some broad independent advice to complement, and probably to a large extent reiterate, what JC+ have already offered.
Rather than reinvent the wheel I am wondering whether anyone else has produced a "benefits guide for soon to be voluntarily redundant employees" which we might recycle or adapt? Have had a good look online but not come up with anything useful so far and would like to avoid starting from scratch if possible.
Colleagues are dealing with the impact on money advice issues (don't hand over all your redundancy money to the first creditor who asks for it) and the employment issues around disability discrimination which might arise as people begin to look for alternative employment but if anybody also has materials they can offer in these areas I am sure the others would be similarly grateful for the time and effort this would save us.
Many thanks in advance
