Jobcentre Interviews for CA claimants Tue 10-Feb-04 02:20 PM
A client who has claimed CA has been told that before a decision can be made on his claim he must attend a JC+ appointment for what sounds like a work-focused interview.
The CA Unit tell us this is a pilot project in the area in which the client lives.
This is the first we've heard of it Does anyone have any information on the pilot? What can the client expect at the interview? Is his CA claim at risk of being disallowed?
it has a link to the Social Security (Jobcentre Plus Interviews) Regulations 2002 (SI.No.1703) which contains the rules on attendance, when the requirement to attend could be waived or deferred, sanctions and good cause for not attending

See http://www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/benefits/pdf_guides/wfi.pdf for a guide to what claimants affected by work-focused interviews can expect - obviously, there may be some changes to the exact nature of the interviews due to the development of the various pilots such as Pathways to Work pilots, extension of Jobcentre Plus, etc etc.
