Benefit payment arrangements during post office strike

The DWP has today said that during postal strike action starting from 4 October 2007 those claimants paid by cheque will have their payments sent to the Post Office nearest to their home address.

The Revenue and the Department for Social Development in Northern Ireland have also issued advice concerning arrangements for paying benefit during the postal strike.

that may have been all very well for payments.... new client has had her benefit stopped becauase they wrot to her, during the strike, to go for an interview that of course she didnt' go for because of not getting the letter (stilll not got the letter.....)

i guess we'll all get a fair few like that in the next month or so.....

and a small local PO used by a lot of our clients closed and shut up shop completely during the strike so you can imagine the scenarios around here.

The new ads for the "Peoples Post Office" is like a kick in the teeth for these clients. S'alright for Joan Collins, I bet she's got some premium bonds she can cash in to buy some food and put money on the leccy
