Client has had an unannounced visit from DLA Fraud Investigation Team. Client is in receipt of high rate mobility. I have dealt with Client and havre no reason to doubt her entitlement. I have spoken to the DLA Fraud Team who are due to return and question the Client. They have told me that when they receive information concerning a potential fraudulent claim it is pursued or not on the basis of a 'Points System'. Has anyone come across this 'Points System' and were can I find out more?

No but the only time I spoke to one of these people he said something like: "You may have seen Gordon Brown saying how there are so many people claiming benefits when they could be working and basically it's our job to make sure people aren't swinging the lead." He seemed frankly stunned when I told him DLA was an in-work benefit and didn't grasp any of the reasons for eligibility. And yet it was his job to find out! It would not surprise me if your 'points system' is the PCA and the fraud team are just hopeless.

I think any unannounced visit like this is worthy of a formal complaint myself.

I was speaking to a friend recently who was involved in developing the computer program that the DWP use in assessing whether to allocate resouces to pursuing a report of fraud,

he told me they use a points system to decide who to go after and who to leave be for the while, I'm wondering whether this was the points score which the person was refering to?
