Hello, I am looking for some pointers here... Hope someone can help...
I am the allocated social worker for a male child, aged approximately 10 years of age. His claim for DLA has been refused, and I have been asked to write a supporting letter. Briefly, this child has a Statement of Special Educational Need, and has significant problems concentrating in class at school, and his behaviour is very difficult to manage, and education and children's services dept. are considering a residential educational placement for him, which his mother supports. Since the start of the new school year, this child has soiled his trousers three times on the way to school, though there is no medical reason for this, though this child has had a traumatic upbringing, and his emotional needs have not been met by his parents, and he has been physically abused.
I am involved with this child/family because of concerns surrounding the parenting of this child, and the difficulties his mother has in parenting (keeping him physically and emotionally safe), and maintaining a clean home.
I have located CDLA/3779/2004 & CSDLA/0899/2001 both of which assist in my supporting the appeal that will be lodged. Whilst I am going to refer this on to an advice agency, the appeal needs to be made asap and I am looking to make a case on which an advisor can then build a case. I used to do this for a living in HB/CTB so I am skilled enough to assist in writing the appeal letter to enable it to be made on time, whilst an appointment is sought at a more appropriate service.
Any suggestions about CD's to rely on given the circs as outlined would however be very welcome...
Many thanks...
