permitted work new rules Thu 04-Mar-10 10:55 AM
Has anyone seen an April uprating letter that includes trying to explain the new permitted work earning work rules. How the change will affect their income support.

I thought that the changes were to create a permitted work earnings limit of £93.00 for HB for claimants on contribution based ESA. IS cases will remain on the old earnings disregard.
There again with so much tinkering I could be wrong.

Of course you are right. But doesn't it also include HB claimants getting incapacity benefit and severe disablement allowance? So new question. Has anyone seen any April uprating letters that have included an explanation about the new permitted work rules.

HB/CTB circular A3/2010 at www.dwp.gov.uk/docs/a3-2010.pdf says:- From April 2010, the earnings disregard for customers of standard HB/CTB will be either £20 or £93 a week if they are also claiming ESA(C), IB or SDA (and credits only cases), and doing permitted work The higher disregard may be limited to a period of 52 weeks – see Circular A24/2009 for the details.
