Date of Entitlement For Payment of Attendance Allowance
Tue 23-May-06 12:48 PM

I have a 90 year old client who was admitted to hospital on 28/2/06. Claim submitted for A.A and awarded at higher rate from 14/3/06. Client was discharged from hospital on 7/4/06 into nursing home where client is self funding on permanent basis. (Client in receipt of WWP SRP, has Savings 31k.)Client informed A.A unit and has received notification that A.A is only payable from 13/4/06.Did client have any entitlement for the period of counting 28 days from date of admission to hospital or date of award?. A.A unit say no. Any advice gratefully received.
Many Thanks

If you become entitled to AA whilst in hospital payment cannot be made until discharged. So 28 day rule does not apply.
