Dyslexia and DLA
Thu 29-Sep-05 01:27 PM

Has anyone any information or experience re claiming DLA for an adult who has severe dyslexia and is virtually unable to read. I really want some advice about what would be viewed as reasonable by a tribunal; obviously help with managing medication and opening mail but what about reading TV Times, newspaper menus etc???

You should also explore inability to read danger signs or instructions to vacate buildings in case of fire or terrorist attack, ingredients for a main meal amongst others. Lots of tasks involve reading to avoid substantial danger.

I'm not aware of any DLA case-law specifically relating to dyslexia, but this issue was previously raised in the old discussion forum -
