Third party Telephone line for TC/IR plus other issues on service
Fri 29-Apr-05 02:01 PM

I have been informed that they have a nuber of third party lines but not how to acces these.

If anyone knows how to or knows a hnumber this would be greatly appreciated on behalf of a single parent who has depression and sciatica.

I have poste in authority < using their authority form> about 6 weeks ago now and it is still not on the system.
I have also taken by hand to a local office who read my details over the phone to the internal call centre, but they still have only my name and insist tht they require further details but cannot say how long this takes. I think policy work is in orer on this department but if anyone knows of any tactics they will also be greatfully received

Hi There,

The IR need you to fax the Authority form (completed with your office identification number) to 01772 235119 with details of you specific query. They will then put your auth on their system and have in my cases have phoned me to tell me this has been done.

You can then phone on the reps number (0845 3003946) to discuss the problem. A warning however, the reps line is CONSTANTLY busy and I haven't found them particularly helpful when you do get through. If you can actually get a phone call back from someone who is not a call centre operative they are very helpful (but still nothing seems to get done!).

Good Luck

Jennifer

As I understood it, you would only have an office identification number (and the ability to fax authority as above) if your office has already registered for this. OK for future work, but perhaps not to your specific query unless this has already been sorted out by your service.

On the other hand, I find the reps line as helpful as can be expected. Although it is a bit disconcerting to have to ask someone if they have 'any other custom and excise debts' when sorting out overpayments!

Hi Kevi,

The form TC689 you are probably referring to should have been scanned into the IR computer. According the Preston External Team, there is a dedicated unit who do this. When we pointed out that our TC689 applications regularly go astray, they were somewhat baffled. This is not helped by the fact that the form does not seem to say where you should post it (I realise some people fax it).

You can complain about their wobbly systems etc, but in the end we have found it easier just to send another one. Once scanned in, your details appear in the "household notes" section of the helpline computer. If not, they will not chat, unless otherwise authorised.

Steve
