HB on two homes
Fri 06-Jun-08 02:24 PM

Any advice welcomed :

Tenant is living in rented accommodation and has to move into a second rented home due to a house fire.
Is HB paid for the first or the new home , and is there any potential to get HB for both on the grounds of temporary absence or similar ?

any known HB Regs would be useful.

Based on the circumstances described, there is no provision for HB on two homes - not even for a short period of time.

In the case of a RSL, the landlord could suspend rent charges whilst the home is uninhabitable ( in most RSL's this would be standard practice) - so the liability for two rents would not arise. Might be different for a private landlord however.
