Pension Credit (Additions)
Wed 11-Aug-04 01:19 PM

Hi,

Does anyone have advice on Pension Credit Carer's Addition and Severe Disability Addition.

My clients are a couple who both receive AA, therefore they both qualify for sda.

I am uncertain as to whether to recommend they both apply for Carer's Allowance so they can both get Carer's Addition. Would this trigger an investigation into AA, could they lose all entitlement.

There is no reason why a disabled person should not be able to provide 35 hours of care to another disabled person. I regularly put in claims for underlying entitlement to CA in order to get CP with PC and have never had any problems.

Must be in receipt of basic state pension of at least £44.35 (their order book if they still have one will show a breakdown of how pension made up basic + any additional pensions otherwise Pension Service should be able to confirm how much basic pension is in payment).

Thanks,

I will advise them both to apply for CA for underlying entitlement.
They both have Retirement Pension over £44.35.
