I have just seen a client who has been sent a renewal form for dla. letter with forms dated 4 /10/04, award runs out 19/10/04. She rang the helpline who told her that they had already sent a form previously but could not say when, just that it would have been done 'as a matter of course'.

The letter that she did receive does not look like a follow up, nor has she had a reminder to send back forms.
As she does not see her gp, but hospital consultants, it will take time to gather necessary medical evidence esp as she has been recovering from an operation to remove a brain tumour and her condition has significantly improved since last claim.

What can I do about this ridiculous short notice - effectively less than two weeks to fill in form and gather evidence before claim is ended?

They have told my client that they will deal with the claim urgently, but I dont think this either helps or addresses the point.

would like advice before I approach dwp with all guns blazing.
