Afternoon All

You may have seen the Rightsnet news story with the DWP press release detailing the processes in place for people to get payments during the postal strike -

Benefit payments during the Post Office workers strike (30 July 2007)

There was also a release on the HMRC website regarding similar arrangements for Child Benefit.

Nothing appeared to have been issued regarding tax credits and those on manual payments. We have today been informed via the consultation group that HMRC, when notified of the planned industrial action, arranged to post out early any tax credit payments that could otherwise have been affected by the strike.

In addition where, despite those actions, customers experience delays in receiving payment, HMRC have arrangements in place whereby they may be able to receive a payment from their nearest HMRC Enquiry Centre.

If anyone is aware of any problems with tax credit manual payments during this period then it would be useful if you could contact us via our website www.litrg.org.uk
