HB for families with differing immigration status
Wed 02-Nov-05 11:20 AM

Hi,
I have a client who entered the UK separately to his wife and children and has been granted refugee status. His family are still under NASS support awaiting a decision.
Would it be possible for him to rent a house for the whole family and claim housing benefit?

Yes, the exclusion from HB/CTB for people subject to immigration conbtrol applies to the claimant. The value of the NASS support should be treated as income.
