ok so here goes... firstly lets ignore the fact that the postal address for Debt Management (formerly DM Manchester and DM Salford) is Gloucester when they were or are (or is it is now they're one) both based in the same building in Salford Quays. As far as I'm aware they're still there. (Salford Quays is where Corrie cars end up in murky depths). It's sort of near Old Trafford (don't mention the football team) and kind of near to a different area altogether known as Trafford Park. Trafford itself is actually a different area of Manchester again as they'll tell you at Trafford Council so no it's not in Trafford but it is in Salford.

Buy nay lasses and laddies, not th'owd Salford of yesteryear with Ewan McColl singing Dirty Old Town but a soulless gentrified area where locals can't afford to live any more...ee bah gum for t'good owd days eh.

One Debt Management to rule them all and in the darkness bind them, then....

heh! we are living in a world where theoretically at least, it is more efficient for post for Salford to be sent to Gloucester, and post for Nuneaton to be sent to Darlington...i should have known really - snarks are boojums! : )

sue, if you are up to any sun bathing in this weather, why not visit brum-on-sea? courtesy bmibaby.com and the city council. you may luxuriate in the sand pit in centenary square - it has a fountain (no bathing), a few palms, a beach bar, a big get away from it all hoarding of white sands and blue skies, and bizarrely, a plastic crocodile...

You obviously know nowt - by canal barge of course! Todays the day when the LAs which make up Greater Manchester vote on congestion charges so if you come by car through our mythical charging circle it'd cost you more than on Brum's M6 toll road.

Ariadne's post has given me food for thought. You could sail from the flood water plains of Gloucester straight into the Shroshire Union canal, change waterways at the junction to the Mancheser Ship canal then sail onto the Leeds Liverpool canal and get off at Wigan Pier. You'd not have to come by road then.

I bet someone out there knows I've made up these waterways directions.

Or just windsurf across the flooded fields
