Income Support for sick student
Wed 19-Mar-08 07:54 AM

I have a client who back in September 07 started his Masters. On 31st January he was diagnosed with Leukemia. This has obviously meant that he has had to leave his course.
He made an application for Income Support on the grounds of ill health, with a letter from the Uni to confirm that he has left, but the claim was refused on the grounds that he is a student??? The course is totally self funding so no income at all.
Any advice greatly received!!!

confirmation from University that he was paying himself when he was there.

confirmation frm student loans that there is no loan

and then put appeal in which forces the DWP to justify their position ....in which, they shoudl fail....
