Periodicy of payments query?
Tue 23-Jan-07 09:14 AM

I am pretty sure that there is no right of appeal against Income Support being paid fortnightly instead of weekly. Can anyone confirm this and give me a link to where it may say this in writing?
Thanks

It is worth reading the commentary to schedule 2 regarding the validity of the schedule. However, where the issue is of payability rather than entitlement questioning the validity of the schedule may be quite difficult.

Yes, it's a lady who is a single parent but is long term sick and in receipt of fortnightly IS, wants to be paid weekly. I have written and am hopeful that it will be approved, but wanted to check, as i was pretty sure she couldn't appeal if they said no.

Another tack in this case would be to write not to the IS section, but to the IB section, providing there's an underlying IB (credits only) claim. It's my understanding that there's a procedural arrangement between the lead benefit (IB) and IS that the latter will follow the former. The key is to connect the financial situation with the health/family situation, eg health deteriorating due to difficulty managing finances due to deteriorating health due to..... Any decision made by IB section would be passed to IS section, even though IB not in payment.

Well, that was the case 4 years ago, but I know times change.
