Tribunal Representation
Wed 18-Apr-07 12:25 PM

Hello

I know this is an 'old chestnut' but has anyone made a successful application under s6(8)b for additional funding to represent/assist at tribunal?

I'm trying to guage what types of application are being successful.

As I understand it this is not full representation but an additional one off discretionary payment by the lord chancellor if the exceptional criteria is met on one or more ground.

Look forward to hearing from you!

Thanks

I've succeeded in getting this discretionary funding a couple of times, but only for absurdly complicated cases at commissioners - one on EU law and discrimination against married women, and the other on HB and NI nos - which then became WDP v Wilson in the Court of Appeal.

I've not heard of any successful grants for tribunal representation.
