Who can claim IS?
Tue 03-Jul-07 05:26 PM

Can someone put my mind at rest? Client in receipt of IB, partner gets cbJSA. Anything to prevent client claiming IS?

....Surely, doesn't their joint income already come to more than the Income support level for a couple anyway? QB 11 would have told us that, or did I miss something here .......

Could be housing costs.

It does as things stand, but I am thinking a claim for CA (overlapping with the cbJSA) would make them eligible.

Does underlying entitlement to CA conflict with availability for work and cast right to CBJSA into doubt, bearing in mind need to be caring for at leat 35 hrs a week? Or woudl the carer cease to care if a job came up>

.....I know my age doesn't help, but there was no mention of DLA mid care - so how is it that CA suddenly comes into the equation ....?

If of course CA is an option, then the CBJSA would cease and Income support with the carer's and disability premiums would be claimed instead, eliminating the requirenment to actively seek work at the same time ......
