Can anyone advise if Mobility component was a passport to SDA and if so up and till what date? We seem to remember either 98 or 90 but no-one is quite sure.

The Severe Disablement Allowance regulations were amended in 1997 by virtue of Statutory Instrument No. 1009, 1997, to remove the references to Mobility Allowance / higher rate mobility component of Disability Living Allowance.

However, Regulations 3 and 4 of these amending regulations make it clear that these changes do not apply to those claimants who are entitled to Severe Disablement Allowance by virtue of Regulation 10(1)(b) of the SDA Regulations and who were in a period of incapacity for work which began before the 1/4/97.

According to the 1998/99 CPAG book, Mob Comp passporting for SDA finished April 1997.
