Tax Credits and Child Support Agency
Wed 20-Jun-07 01:38 PM

Hi All,
I have a lone parent who is avoiding IS because of the CSA, but now wants to claim CTC/WTC instead.
If you make a claim for tax credits, does it trigger a CSA application in the same way that a claim to IS / JSA does?
Thanx in advance
Sandra

No, there is nothing in the regs to say that an application for TCs will also be treated as an application for CS, as there is in the IS regs. Your client will be safe enough claiming CTC/WTC as long as they meet the criteria

There'd be little point in a link. Maintenance is disregarded as income for TCs, unlike IS.
