LSC's Community Legal Advice Centre plans in disarray Fri 24-Nov-06 04:30 PM
The Legal Services Commission's plans to introduce Community Legal Advice Centres (CLACs) in Gateshead and Leicester from next April have been hit by a boycott of the proposed new unified contract from the Law Centres bidding to run the new centres.

I don't think it's true to say we are boycotting the CLAC. We have concerns about the wording of the proposed contract, but as LSC have indicated that the problematic clause was not intended to apply to not-for-profit agencies it will hopefully prove not to be an issue.
My understanding is that the proposed contract was for all LSC suppliers not just the CLACs.

Today's announcement says, inter alia:
"Introducing a ‘unified contract’ for civil legal services in April 2007, starting with standard terms to bring law firms and NfP agencies under the same contract conditions."
