Missed medical - ESA stopped Wed 02-Dec-09 01:46 PM
Claimant missed an ESA medical and did not complete the form asking for good cause. Consequently ESA has been stopped. She has asked for a review but has been told that payment will not be made until the review is decided. She has good reasons for non-attendance so I am hopeful it will be reinstated eventually and have written in with full details. Other claimants have had ESA reinstated when they've asked for a review so I don't know why this isn't the case for this claimant. Does it have to be an appeal request for entitlement to continue during the appeal process - rather than a review request? Thanks

DWP have advised that ESA is only put back in payment when a claimant is appealing against a limited capability for work decision (ie. following medical). When good cause decision for non-attendance then payment will only be made if the review is successful. This fits with info on p165 of cpag. And yes - I do talk to myself too (as well as answer my own questions).
