Hi -I am working with a 18 year old care leaver. She has just received income support (student) and will be applying for housing benefit next week -just moved into own tenancy.
She is due to receive approx £10,000 from her late fathers army Pension -money was in trust. Could you please let me know how this will effect her IS and HB?

she'll be over the capital limits, and will be affected by the fact of having £10K. no way of protecting that. and check the terms of the trust as to whether, in fact, it will be counted as her money from teh date of her 18th Birthday... which it might.
