Change of address query
Tue 14-Nov-06 02:11 PM

Hi

I'm new to this forum but one of my work collegues has recommended this site as he finds it very useful.

Can anyone tell me of the new rule as of April 2006 regarding change in address. Apparently, change of addresses are now treated as a change in circumstance, which means from the date the change actually occurs the HB is ended and not from the Sunday as it used to be.

I'm not aware of this new rule and wondered if anyone could enlighten me.

Thanks S

A change of address has been a change of circs since April 2004.

However, the change in April 2006 relates to the calculation of rent in a particular week. At the risk of oversimplification, rents are now apportioned on a daily basis - even if the rent is payable on a weekly basis.

The relevant provision is HBR 80 of the Housing Benefit Regulations 2006.

Regards
