Tax refund on occupational pension - treated as income? Tue 24-Jul-07 12:43 PM
Client is under 60. Had been paying BR tax code on her occupational pension for last 8 or 9 years. HMRC have now refunded overpaid tax - approx £600 for last 6 years.
40(2) HB General Regs says tax rebate for employed earner is counted as capital. How about my client's rebate? She won't be over chuffed if her HB/CTB entitlement is re-calculated to take account of the arrears (i.e. the 'corrected' pension taking into account the lower tax charge).
