Kinship Allowance or Payments?
Thu 19-Apr-07 01:46 PM

Hello I’ve a query for any Scots out there re “Kinship payments or allowance” which is new to me.

I assume that this is a catchall term for payments made under Section 26 of the Children (Scotland) Act 1995? Which is about as far as my knowledge goes.

My query is what effect does payments of this kind have on state benefits? From reading it would seem that a recipient would be barred from claiming Child Benefit or Child Tax Credits is this extended to any other benefits paid for a child such as DLA(Child)?

I would also be grateful if anyone could tell me if there is an impact on the adult’s benefits? For example would it be treated as income for Income Support purposes.

Cheers
