Have they got a clue?
Fri 22-Jul-05 03:11 PM

Just had a client whose daughter will be starting a full time BTEC Diploma course in September this year. She has just left school aged 16. The client has been told twice by the Inland Revenue that she will not get child tax credits for her daughter.

This is wrong.

So I phoned them and they said they couldn't change anything until 1/9/05 because of the computer.

Does it get any worse?

Well, I've heard that the author of this nonsense might be the next Prime Minister...

The computer doesn't allow them to enter any future changes, only changes that have already happened. As clients daughter doesn't start college until september there is no change till then. Only if client already in receipt of CTC will it continue to be paid through the summer.

HMRC will continue to pay CTC upto the 1st September following the childs 16th birthday.

Hope this helps
