Changes to Carers Allowance claim process? Tue 28-Jun-05 01:00 PM
Have noticed that Carers UK are saying in press release (below) that DWP will scrap requirement from Octobe 2005 for CA claimants to have a Jobcentre Plus work focussed interview as part of the claim process. Have not found any info in DWP press releases though. Anyone know if this is going ahead?
The Social Security Advisory Committee (SSAC) have been asked to consider proposals for regulations - the Social Security (Work-focused Interviews Amendment) Regulations 2005 - that will remove carer's allowance and bereavement benefits from the list of specified benefits that have WFI conditionality (amongst other measures)
Deadline for responding to the consulltation is Monday 11 July 2005.
Ah yes! Sounds like we'll only have to decide if carers fit into one of three groups instead of the present two. Yet another excellent example of KICS - Keep it Complicated Stupid.
