following yesterday's child support white paper, dwp spokesperson has said of the new computer system -
"We envisage a new system will be built ... We will probably use bits of the old system and create new bits for the new system and merge them together to create the new simpler system."

This is exactly what is proposed for the new ESA computer system that was the subject of the s.82 report recently - apparently that is going to made from one bit of the JSA computer system and another bit of the Pension Credit system, with a new bit of IT in between them both. I'm sure they know what they're doing with the £30-odd million.......
