I have a 19 y.o.client who has a learning disability, lives at home and is on IB of £98.45, and on DLA MRC, LRM. He's due to move out of the family home in the next month into unfurnished accommodation. He's just been turned down for a SF grant because he doesn't get IS (hence the referral to me). He needs white goods and furniture. He will qualify for IS once he leaves home, due to SDP being payable. His parents don't qualify for benefits. Trouble is, I can't see how he can get a grant before moving, as he's not leaving institutional or residential care, and he can't move until he's got the necessaries to live there. Any way round this? Any help or recommended real ales welcome.
