150,000 social care workers paid below legal minimum wage
Research by Kings College London reveals that around 9 per cent of care workers in England are being paid less than the minimum wage. Guardian article @ http://www.guardian.co.uk/society/2011/oct/03/social-care-workers-pay?newsfeed=true
Panorma programme on Monday night seemed to suggest that this figure might be even higher.
Carer’s Allowance is well below the minimum wage bearing in mind you have to provide 35hrs of care to get it.
