Child Benefit - when did HMRC take it over from DWP?
Thu 15-Jan-09 09:23 AM

Please can someone tell me the exact date when HMRC, (IR as it was), took on responsibility for Child Benefit. I think it was some time during 2001.

Thanks

Section 50 of the Tax Credits Act 2002 transferred responsibility for the administration of both child benefit and guardian's allowance to the Board—the Commissioners—of Inland Revenue.

The transfer to the Revenue took place on 1 April 2003.
