LHA, maximum rent, and a rent increase
Fri 05-Dec-08 02:04 PM

Here's a take on LHA that I hadn't thought of before. But perhaps that's just me. Anyway, we note from the HB Regs 12D and 13C that HB is paid on the basis of LHA 'maximum rent' even if the allowance or your rent changes.

But is this specific to the person or the property?

That is, we have now established that claims can be terminated, or switched between a couple, in order to effect a new claim.

If a new claim was made in such circs, could they increase maximum rent (because the rent they are liable to pay has increased) - and bypass the restrictions on re-assessment?

I don't know, that's for sure.
